Cyberport and 16 community FinTech start-ups have nabbed a total of 17 awards across a dozen categories at this year’s IFTA FinTech Achievement Awards.

The Awards are the signature tribute of the Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia (IFTA). This year’s Awards adopted the theme of “Transforming FinTech Communities with Competence, Character, and Care”, which recognises, showcases and celebrates the extraordinary achievements of corporations and industry talent in their pursuit of innovative solutions that meet both business and social needs.

Cyberport was conferred the exalted FinTech Ecosystem Contribution Honorary Award for its exemplary achievements in nurturing FinTech start-ups, fostering the financial industry’s digital transformation, and establishing Hong Kong’s FinTech ecosystem.

“This ecosystem is instrumental in establishing the city’s largest FinTech community at Cyberport, enabling it to become one of the region’s leading FinTech hubs and placing Hong Kong’s FinTech start-ups and tech companies at the global forefront of financial innovation,” said Eric Chan, Chief Public Mission Officer of Cyberport. “All this would not be complete without the active participation of many stakeholders, including start-ups, financial institutions, government agencies, industry and professional services partners. We dedicate this accolade to everyone who has taken part in this journey.”

For the 17 individual awards scored by Cyberport start-ups across 12 categories, the winning solutions range from backbone technologies such as blockchain, cloud computing, and data analytics, to frontline services applications like InsurTech, PaymentTech, robo-advisor, and RegTech.

In addition, two Cyberport entrepreneurs, Tomas Holub, Founder and CEO of InsurTech provider CoverGo, and Tim Lee, Founder and CEO of mobile payments solutions provider QFPay Haojin FinTech, were named Entrepreneurs of The Year. Their stellar entrepreneurship, innovation, and community engagement won the plaudits of the judges.

Both entrepreneurs were grateful for the recognition and thanked Cyberport for the support and opportunities provided to them, adding that, “Cyberport has been essential in our development, especially when we were starting up.”
