Hong Kong now have a chance to compete at the highest level in esports at the FIFAe Nations Cup 2021™! Cyberport is teaming up with the Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) and the Esports Association Hong Kong to select Hong Kong’s best players to form a five-player squad representing Hong Kong in the inaugural tournament in Denmark, where they will compete in the Nations Cup finals, rub shoulders with the world’s best gamers and vie for more than US$500,000 in prize money.

The three organisations will jointly organise the HKFA eFootball Open, backed by sponsor BOC Life, to pick the five players for the world event. “Esports has been on the rise for years with consistently expanding popularity but this is the first time the Hong Kong Football Association will send esports team to an official event under the international governing body. He noted that the industry has remained robust despite the pandemic; and traditional sports are increasingly embracing esportification and enjoying growing viewership. With such prospects, Yan pledged that Cyberport will continue to join forces with industry partners to promote industry growth and seize opportunities in this new normal.
