Going smart, green, and clean is not only the way of the future but can also offer significant upsides to SMEs struggling to improve their bottom line and engage customers during tough times.

Cyberport Creative Micro Fund (CCMF) smart living start-up DropReceive has designed and developed a customisable, fully digital, and eco-friendly customer engagement solution targeting small and medium merchants and restaurants.

This solution enables small businesses without big budgets or workforce to attract, engage, retain, and win over customers in an easy and affordable manner while cutting down costs. This unique value proposition won DropReceive the “Innovative Smart Solution Award” at the 2020 HKRMA Smart Retailing Awards.

DropReceive’s app empowers merchants to create their own rewards programmes and issue digital receipts. With the help of this app, they can also solicit instant customer feedback to boost customer service and engagement.

Since everything is done through the app and over cloud, there is no need for software or POS installation. There is no upfront onboarding cost either. DropReceive’s subscription model allows merchants to pay only as they benefit from customer retention.

A pilot version of the app was launched for Android in early November with four restaurants signed up to test-run the solution.

“Our go-to-market strategy is to start the restaurant businesses as they are hardest hit by COVID-19 and in tremendous need to have a comprehensive customer engagement program,” said Ameesh Kumar, Managing Director of DropReceive.

The start-up credited Cyberport for being pivotal to its entrepreneurial journey. In addition to funding, Cyberport has provided DropReceive access to its cloud platform to host its app, website, and databases. As a CCMF alumni, DropReceive also enjoys advisory, promotional, and support services to bolster and guide its further development.
