Organized by the ATEC committee, the Asia Technology Entrepreneurship Conference 2021 (ATEC 2021) Finalist Presentation was successfully held at Cyberport in September. Over 500 registered participants, both online and in-person, watched as 8 ATEC start-up competition finalists pitched live for the opportunity to win HK$200,000 in prize money and the coveted title of "ATEC Startup of the Year".

Following the presentations from all finalists, the Champion of ATEC 2021 was Lifespan with its “creating the safest and most effective orthopaedic implant technologies”. Cyberport’s start-up OneDegree won the first runner-up with its “online pet insurance and fire insurance in Hong Kong”, while another Cyberport start-up PickUpp bagged the second runner-up with its “leading smart logistics platform in Asia”.

Carrying the same mission as Cyberport to foster active engagement of the broader start-up ecosystem in Asia by connecting founders, mentors and investors,  Winners and judges of ATEC 2021 will have a sharing session at the upcoming Cyberport Venture Capital Forum (CVCF) 2021 on 2 November.  Chaired by Voon Siang Lee, Co-Founder & Managing Partner, Falcon Partners, ATEC Steering Committee, the panel will be joined by Chibo Tang, Managing Partner, Gobi Partners and the VC judge at ATEC 2021 along with the 3 winning teams - Dr Erica Boles, Chief Scientific Officer and Co-Founder of LifeSpans; Alvin Kwock, Co-Founder of OneDegree, and Crystal Pang, Co-Founder and CEO of PickUpp.

ATEC is the largest alumni-led technology conference in Asia founded by the Hong Kong university and business school alumni clubs of Harvard, Columbia, MIT and Stanford. Its start-up competition is designed to foster active engagement of alumni members with the broader startup ecosystem in Asia, as either founders, mentors or investors.

The start-up competition received over 100 nominations from 35 regional alumni clubs representing 18 schools, where 8 finalists were shortlisted to be presented in the ATEC 2021, including 3 Cyberport start-ups OneDegreePickupp and HK Decoman
