Cyberport’s growing ecosystem of technology solutions has caught the judges’ attention once again at two industry recognition events this year: the Fintech Achievement Awards by the Institute of Financial Technologies of Asia, and the Health Partnership Awards 2021 organised by ET Net.

At the IFTA FinTech Achievement Awards, themed “Embracing FinTech Amid New Normal and Accelerating Digitization”, 14 Cyberport FinTech companies bagged a total of 15 awards for their innovations spanning RegTech, InsurTech, Payment Tech, Trade Financing Tech, Blockchain, Cryptocurrency and CEP (Cryptoasset Exchange Providers), and WealthTech.

"The pandemic has reshaped economic activity globally and is accelerating the application of technology solutions in the financial sector. Demand for FinTech is growing exponentially. As Hong Kong’s leading FinTech hub, Cyberport houses nearly 400 FinTech companies which strive to turn crises into opportunities and promote digital transformation in the financial industry. Authorities worldwide are tightening regulatory requirements in order to ensure financial market stability, and any violations may lead to substantial fines for financial institutions. Multiple Cyberport start-ups are developing RegTech solutions with emerging technologies to help financial institutions meet regulatory requirements while reducing costs. This work reinforces Hong Kong’s position as a leading international financial centre offering superior protection for market players,” said Eric Chan, Chief Public Mission Officer of Cyberport.

The Awards also honoured Cyberport entrepreneurs Jess Cheng, Founder and Director of Eureka Holding Limited, and Tomas Holub, Founder of CoverGo, with the “Leader of the Year” tributes for their exemplary business, tech innovation, and community engagement work in FinTech development.

Cheng’s company has facilitated faster loan applications for SMEs using an algorithm-based system that digitally expedites financial document reviews, while Holub’s API-enabled platform has introduced real-time solutions for key processes in the insurance industry.

“This award is a recognition as well as an encouragement to our philosophy and our FinTech solution. I would like to express my thanks to Cyberport for providing professional advice on solution development.,” shared Cheng. Likewise, Holub noted the “great opportunities” presented by the Cyberport community, which “have been essential to our development."

On another note, Cyberport also received the “Outstanding Health Technology Ecosystem” award under the Digital Health and Technology category at ET Net’s Health Partnership Awards 2021. Championing “A Healthier Tomorrow”, the Awards pays tribute to outstanding industry efforts geared towards promoting people’s health and wellness.
